Short Stories by James Marcoff When James was in fourth grade, he stumbled upon a book that would change his life. While taking a walk one night from the orphanage he grew up in, James noticed somthing peculiar that caught his eye. Lying on top of a pile of trash was a battered and torn copy of P.K. Dick's A Scanner Darkly. Someone had apparently just finished reading it and tossed it in with the other trash as they walked by. Not having any books of his own, James quickly devoured the contents of the book and yearned for more. He joined the library and became an instant bibliophile, collecting books wherever he saw them. After a few years, James' tiny room in the orphanage was stacked from floor to ceiling with books he found discarded in streets and trashbins or given away for free. He had to sleep in the hallway for two weeks until he could decide and find which books to get rid of. After a while, James realized that he could create characters and universes of his own creation. He soon started writing story after story and even winning a writing contest in school. James has never stopped writing since that young age, and he continues his tradition here. James' works have been featured in many independent outlets under multiple pen names.
